Luminox watches
are officially used by many special forces of the police, the military and others - in the US, Switzerland, Germany..

The Richard Barry Marketing Group was founded by Richard Timbo and Barry Cohen. Richard and Barry (hence the company name) were business acquaintances through their careers as sales representatives. Based on prior sales experience, they made a strategic decision to seek out opportunities that included branded products or proprietary technology that would create a barrier to competition. They discovered a unique illumination technology being produced by a Swiss manufacturer, suggested the technology be incorporated into a line of Swiss watches, and negotiated an exclusive relationship for the use of the technology in North America, and the world's most luminous timepiece collection was born.
Initially marketed under the Swiss firm's name, RBMG moved to create their own identity by registering the name Luminox, as well as the logo, a shield icon incorporating the colors black, white and red. Luminox, meaning "light night" in Latin, was selected to emphasize the superlative illumination system utilized in the watch collection. The company logo encompasses this meaning by using white lettering (light) on a black background, black lettering (night) on a white background, and red trim (color of the Swiss flag).
All Luminox watches must undergo additional manufacturing steps that other watches do not require. The Luminox self-powered illumination system must be installed into each and every watch. It is a costly and time consuming endeavor but it is what makes Luminox watches special. It is our raison d’être. Each watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights developed by the world leader in the luminous compound industry. These micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) are installed into the hands, hour markers, and when necessary, bezels of our watches. Luminox watches need no external light source to “charge” the point on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches. Nor do they require the push of a button to light the dial as do watches with electroluminescence. The U.S. military has long recognized the advantages of micro gas light sources and their use is specified in procurement specification MIL-W-46374F. Our self-powered illumination—Luminox Light Technology (LLT) allows one to view time-at-u-glance, no matter what the light level, even in complete darkness. This ease of being able to rend time effortlessly seems to fill a need for various military and law enforcement groups. It is why the U.S. Navy SEALS Procurement officers came to us asking us to create dive watches for them for night missions. It is also why U.S. Air Force pilots flying the F-117 NighthawkTM Stealth Jets asked the same of us. These are only two of many groups of “heroes” that truly understand and appreciate the inherent benefit of wearing a Luminox timepiece.

Market leader with a unique technology
The Swiss firm mb-microtec developed the technology to produce GTLS ( gaseous tritium light sources ) so small, they can be installed on the hands and dial of your wristwatch. H3 or 'Traser' is another name used for such watches and the technology, but initially it was the US brand Luminox who used the Microtec light system.
These light sources, marketed as "mb-microtec illumination" are independent of a battery or any other source of outside energy, never need recharging or servicing and do not require the push of a button. They glow permanently and a 100 times brighter than anything comparable, for up to twenty years.
mb-microtec employs 40 people and is located in Niederwangen just outside Bern in Switzerland. Self luminating light Sources for EXIT signs in hotel corridors or on airplanes to lead people to safety in an emergency with power failure, were some of the early and more traditional applications of this technology.
The watches are 100% Swiss Made
